 Introducing Fern Martins’ as the Director of inheritanceartdesign

Fern Martins has an artistic career spanning 50 years, with her first one woman exhibition at the age of 19.

Below are some recent creative contracts

Represented in : The National Gallery of Australia, Canberra.
 Art Gallery of NSW, State Library of NSW, Museum of Contemporary Art , Newcastle Art Gallery,
Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia,
Collections in Australian Schools, Universities,
Aboriginal Communities and many private collections in Australia and overseas.

Fern has always participated in the development of community artistic identities.
A few highlights are the initial developments of the Woman’s art space, Adelaide,
Sculpture workshop Adelaide, Artists for Aboriginal land rights Sydney,
Treaty movement and founding member of Boomalli ,the first urban indigenous  artists cooperative.
Fern’s commitment is still flourishing today with teaching, community art projects
and Indigenous reconciliation projects.

Recently, Fern has ventured into Indigenous children’s book illustrations
and is the recipient of the Magabala Scholarship for 2013 and 2015.

NOTABLE- CBCA Picture Book of the Year

SHORTLISTED_ ABIA Small Publishers Children’s Book of the Year.

 

Currently fern is creatively involved with the Lake Macquarie Council,
Bible Society and Magabala Books.

Fern is passionate about her faith and Aboriginal self determination.
Fern’s Aboriginal ancestry is from the  Waka Waka and  Bundjalung country,
Northern NSW and Southern Queensland.
